Yadboro

Feiday 31/12/10
Well today we decided to take a day trip out to Yadboro I had totally forgotton about this gorgeous place until I was speaking to another CT owner in a camper trailer group we belong to.  And as we werent sure if it was accessible to CT's or not thought we would do the day trip to find out.  Well I am very happy to advise it is definately CT friendly although I would not like to go out there in a 2WD in wet weather.

We met Denise and Steve at their place and headed south to Wheelbarrow Rd.  Its approximately 40kms of dirt road.  2WD friendly in the dry but wouldnt like to try it in the wet, lucky for us we have a 4WD and it was dry.  Now remember its been about 25 years since we have been out here and Darrell thought he would go first in the car (much to the amusement of Denise and Steve lol) after 2 wrong turns and 1 stop as wasnt sure if it was left or straight lol we did go to Pigeon House as part of the scenic route at least the kids know where Pigeon House is now.  We finally arrived and WOW its beautiful I had forgotton just how beautiful it was.

We crossed over the wooden bridge and parked up in the camping area there were about 6 camper trailers and a few tents.  There is only 1 toilet which is a pit style one so not flushing.  It was very clean for a bush toilet.  There are no other facilities so you really need to have your own water and be fully self sufficient.  But it is well worth the effort.  There is no charge for the camping either.

We had a look around the camp area then decided to set up back on the other side of the bridge we parked the cars and made a little bbq are.  The kids had a great time splashing around in the river.  They also borrowed a boat of some of the campers and had a great time floating down the river in the boat.

Darrell wanted a photo going over the bridge

The kids found a lizard going up the tree

Its a bit harder going against the river

I highly recommend this for a camping spot and I cannot wait til next year when we go back we are going to take the CT out there for a few days.  Thanks to Denise and Steve for a fabulous day.

After a relaxing picnic and swim it was time to head back into town and get ready to pack up before going into Ulladulla for the NYE fireworks.  We met Denise, Steve, Candice, Olivia and Grace at the top of the town where we sat and had a perfect view of the fireworks once these were finished we grabbed Maccas for dinner then back to hook up CT and sadly head home.  I so badly did not want to leave but could not convince Darrell for any more days there as we still had the farm to go.

  1. I enjoyed your write up and photos.

Yadboro Flat is a great campsite that I generally find not over crowded.
