Sharp Park, Canungra CT meet

Friday 1/4/11
Well its no April fools joke but we finally set our camper trailer up in the daylight WOOHOO.  Arriving at Sharp Park at around 10am and it was absolutely pouring down rain so we chose our spot, the one we wanted was taken.  We sit in the car and wait for the rain to subside but the kids were off already looking for the mud lol.  And within 10 minutes they were nice and dirty.  There were already a couple of people there from the group before us.  And as the day went on more and more came it was a great turn out.  Once we were all set up I decided to go into Canungra and get some fresh bread rolls for our dinner tonight.  On the way in I decided to stop off at the old train tunnell.  I have wanted to do this for ages and get some photos.  Unfortunately due to all the bad weather we have had the tunnell was blocked off so you couldnt walk through so I guess we will do that another day.  You could however walk down to the entrance.

After the tunnel we went into the bakery and got some nice fresh bread rolls and promised  Darrell and the kids I would buy pies for lunch.  Instead of getting the pies from the bakery I though I would try the Outpost bakery on the corner as it always has heaps of people there so I thought they must be good pies.  Well lets just say I practically had to mortgage the house to pay for them, and for the price I wasn't that impressed but Darrell thought they were good.

After lunch I had time to catch up with some of the other camper trailer people, Helen and Peter in their Jayco (I want it wonder if they will give it to me lol) and Benji, caught up with Kate, Paul and the girls Chloe and Bella.  I just love looking through Kate and Pauls photo album cant wait to go to the places they have been.

We certainly had a nice relaxing afternoon I tried to get some study in while the kids were off swimming and bike riding but I really couldnt get into the study groove.  It started to get dark and the rain had stopped so it was time to organise dinner we  had yummy hamburgers tonight probably one of my favourite camping dinners.  After dinner we wandered over and said hello to Robyn and Lindsay and pulled up a chair around the campfire.  Tom and Taz were very excited when our neighbours arrived back with their dog Henna, they absolutely love Henna their mate from Spring Gully's.  It was their first time setting up their new Trackabout and a very nice setup they have too.  Unfortunately I forgot to get a photo of Henna so she cant appear on my page, will do that next time.  After a long day of doing nothing I decided to have an early night as the kids always wake early when we are camping.   We received a text saying Tom's football game had been cancelled so that means we dont have to get up and go to Ormeau in the morning.

Saturday 2/4/11
Well after a rather cool night it was an early start thanks Nathan, the ground was very wet from the dew and the mist over the hills made me think of the song "Morning Has Broken" .  The kids had a nice easy breakfast of cereal then they were off down the river cant keep these kids still for long.  I thought it was time to wash up last nights dishes, and tidy up and get organised for morning tea.  Morning tea is a great way to catch up with fellow campers and swap stories and eat delicious food gotta love those Robyn spring rolls and the nice warm cake (not sure who made it) but gee it was nice.  It was a beautiful warm day worked out well not having to go to football.

MORNING TEA

Tazman was very excited as there were a couple of Winna THE Baygos as she calls them,  she desperately wants one of them to travel around Australia in yes she is definately my daughter. The afternoon was a nice relaxing one with our friends the Jankes coming up for a visit and stayed to have dinner with us.  Lucky for Tom as I think he was starting to get a bit lost without his siamese twin lol.  So we spent the afternoon by the river just chillaxin watching the kids play.

The kids saw all kinds of wildlife today, they caught a little tiny turtle, they saw a platypus, and a snake with babies.

Once the sun went down it was time to light the bbq and put the snags on for sausage sandwiches which was a hit with the kids, the Hume kids didnt want the Janke kids to go home and the Janke kids didnt want to go home either, mean mummy and daddy made them go home.  We were hanging out for dark so we could christen our new LED light that Shane bought down for us. If you are lookikng for 12 volt or solar for you CT or caravans this is the place to go to Dynamic Solar Solutions http://www.dynamicsolarsolutions.com.au/  Once the Jankes had gone, dinner mess was cleaned up we gathered all the kids and got out some sparklers and they had some sparkler fun around the fire.  Once the sparklers were done we settled the kids into bed and headed over to Rick and Carols fire for a bit of a catch up but as usual for me when I am camping I like to go to bed early, not sure why as I never go to bed early at home I think it must be all that doing nothing makes you tired.  But I did find out later I missed out on Robyns famous campfire cake bugger maybe next time.  Oh and Rick your jar of mentos were definately a hit with the kids.

Sunday 3/4/11
Well last night was warmer but still heavy dew and mist over the hills. Darrell cooked us delicious pancakes for breakfast, you cant go camping and not have pancakes.  Today we met a lovely family with 3 kids who are 2 months into the 12 month trip around Australia, they were having a great time and it was great to meet them and hear of their travel stories those kids are learning so much and having an absolute ball.  I cant wait until that is us on the road full time, soon it will be our turn.  I am definately keeping up to date with their travels via their blog.  I had to make a trip into town today to take Nathan home, and while I was down there Georgia decided she would come back for our last night.  I love it when she comes as she doesnt come with us all that often just wish we could convince Jack to come camping with us.  It was a bit of a drizzly afternoon but that didnt bother the kids they kept playing and swimming as usual.  Most campers were packing up and heading home and there was just a few left on Sunday night.  There was Alan & Kathy, Helen & Peter, Kate & Paul, Rex and Ann, Barb & Darryl, Wendy & David and us left.  We headed over to Kates for happy hour nibblies along with Barb and Darryl, the Malpass's (family travelling oz) and some new people who just arrived in their big 5th wheeler, i just love hearing everyones travel stories and experiences.

After our yummy dinner of pasta we had our own campfire tonight.  Kate had told the kids she had a surprise for them after dinner and they were delighted to see she had these super dooper sized sparklers they were awesome.  So we had our final campfire for the weekend and were joined by Barb & Darryl, Kate & Paul.
 BIG SPARKLER FUN

OUR FINAL CAMPFIRE

Monday 4/4/11
Darrell rose early as he had to go into work, I had a leisurely sleep in as it was a bit chilly and my bed was warm.  While the kids were down in the river swimming Taz came running back telling me to get the camera as there was a huge snake sunbaking on a log.  So who was I to argue, just as long as it stayed on the over side from me as i dont like creepy crawlys and snakes are scary.

While the kids got in as much last swimming as possible, I was packing up everything so when Darrell got back all we had to do was fold CT up.  Slowly we said goodbye to each of our camper trailer/caravan  buddies as one by one they went home.  Darrell arrived back at about 2pm with Soxy for a day out and we just got packed up when it absolutely poured down we got soaking wet but all our stuff was packed so it was ok we were just putting the last stuff in the trailer. Once again we had a wondeful weekend spent with wonderful people.  Would like to say thankyou to Robyn and Lindsay for organising and hosting the meet it was great.

We have now spent 34 glorious nights in our camper trailer and the novelty has definately not worn off.  Only 16 more days and we will be off again this time down to Jimmy's farm at Halfway Creek.  We  cant wait.

Until next time enjoy the great outdoors.
